Those who check film credits as part of their movie-watching routine know that prior to Pan’s Labyrinth Guillermo helmed the excellent and under-talked-about Hellboy (and, of course, its sequel, The Golden Army ). He’s went from being known simply by the more avid fan, to getting the full attention of film fans everywhere, particularly when Peter Jackson handpicked him to helm the upcoming two-part adaptation of The Hobbit , arguably the most anticipated film project of any that’s upcom Similar to the Scream Awards , I really dig the Saturn Awards because of the types of films they celebrate. Often with awards like the Oscars and the Golden Globes, purely fun films that have every bit of merit as the serious ones get left The Scream 2009 nominees were chosen by the Advisory Board of Hollywood and Genre Leaders, a list which this year includes the likes of Wes Craven, Roland Emmerich, Neil Gaiman, Frank Miller, Eli Roth and Zack Snyder, plus many more. The event will be taped on Saturday, October 17th this year at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, and will air on Spike TV ten days later on Tuesday, October 27th (check for local tim Here’s just some of my quick thoughts on who and what’s been nominated: I’m glad to see so many nominations for my favorite show Lost , racking up nine in total (nice to see Josh Holloway finally get recognition for his acting). I’m delighted to see Sam Rockwell get recognition for his fantastic performance in Moon (I was really annoyed that he didn’t get nominated for an Osc Rorschach tells Dan his theory about a “mask-killer” (they were once partners) and Dan goes off to warn Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias (Matthew Goode) that his life may be in danger as well. Adrian is a super-genius billionaire who created his mega-corporation after vigilantism was banned. He is supremely confident and is determined to change the world for the better and bring it back from the brink of nuclear destruct I’m a little (no, A LOT) suspect of The Book of Eli , Transformers 2 and Wolverine getting nominated for Best Fantasy Film (and District 9 didn’t?!) and New Moon and The Box getting nominated in the Horror category (were either of those even horror movie Also, despite the “cool factor,” Wanted didn’t manage to beat underdog summer flick The Incredible Hulk . I guess more people thought it was ridiculous ( as I did ) than thought it was “awesome, dude!”. However Superhero Movie Games Release Date|Https://Superheromoviespot.Com/ movie fans across the land can weep in unison at the fact that Hulk was not able to defeat three hip, New York City powershopping babes on the prowl for true l Today marks the day when the nominations for the 36th Annual Saturn Awards are given out. In case you’re not familiar with them, they are given out by The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films (they also include TV shows and stage productions) so as a reader of Screen Rant I believe they’re right up your alley A little background for context: I read the graphic novel once, last year, following the San Diego Comic-Con. I’m not a die-hard devotee of the book, but I recognize that at the time it was written it was groundbreaking in its approach to the superhero genre. I don’t remember every nuance or panel of the story, but I remember enough for the film to make sense to Below is the list of a selection of the 32 categories from this year’s Scream nominations. For those of you (all of you?) who want to have YOUR say on which film should win, you’re in luck! Public voting for the awards has opened already and will run right up to October 17th. But before you head off to vote, here are some of the nomin The nominees have been announced for the fourth annual Scream Awards, held every year by Spike TV . The decisively more “fan-friendly” award ceremony (compared to the Oscars) honors films from the sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comic-book genres of movies, TV shows and comic books. The awards are described as, “the first and only global event of its kind,” to honor those gen I find what del Toro is saying about entertainment and storytelling interesting. He is sounding more ambitious than pretty much any other director out there, not only talking about his own future stories but the very nature of storytelling and entertainment in general within the next decade. I’m not sure about his comment regarding the PS3, where he basically says that it is the be-all-and-end-all of systems to bring us the ultimate narrative experience, he still seems awfully sure in all of what he’s say But enough from me, what and who will YOU vote for? As stated, you can cast your votes over at Spike.com , and you can see if the winners match your picks when the Scream Awards 2009 air on October 27th this year on Spike Movies worth noting that are missing from that top 10 list include The Happening (huge stinker for Shyamalan), The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (couldn’t bring myself to watch it), 10,000 B.C. (do I even need to comment on this one?), Speed Racer (LSD trip for kids), and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (too niche, I suppo
